1999

At the turn of the century, I was 13
Almost half the age at which I write
I don't remember very much, except
Our bubbled drinks not quite champagne
The thrill of staying up past bedtime
And New Years Rockin' Eve, that now
I just can't watch without Dick Clark.

  1. Goodness...I feel ancient. :) I can't think of watching New Year's Rockin' Eve without Dick Clark either. Love the photo. :)

  2. I vividly remember that New Year's celebration. When I entered the bathroom, it was 1999. When I exited...it was 2000.

  3. I remember when I was first "officially" granted permission to ring in the new year, and the fake bubbly...I thought I was queen of the world...how often do you bring that Ben to your work? And yes...it was always Dick Clark...even here...although we were already well into the New Year by the time the big ball dropped. Here's to 13 year old Ben!

    1. What do you mean by officially granted permission, Natasha?

  7. I stood on a pool table with a gorgeous blond in nampa Idaho downed a glass of free Champaign and kissed her for well over a min as the new year rang

    1. It was, and she was...and I got so drunk I didn't even realize that I could have slept at her place instead of mine;-)

  8. Me and a bunch of my smart aleck friends ran around the neighborhood screaming "OMG the Y2K bug. It's coming! It's here! HEEELP." At the time it was the funniest thing ever.
