A Hummingbird Haiku & Senryu

hummingbird echo
smell of nectar in the air
an empty feeder.

I knew Humming Bird
we walked and sang together
like young lovers do.

  1. I enjoyed the second one best; the suggestions of a story behind the glimpse in the haiku.

    1. Thank you, poetry-diary. I tried to connect them both through a feeling of loss.

  7. This sounds like Humming Bird is an old Indian chief. But that's just my insane imagination. Wonderful poem.

  11. I love both of them. I've been filling my 3 feeders almost daily as all those northern hummers are heading my way. I've been using 10 pounds of sugar every week or two. Check out the song "Hummingbird" by Seals and Crofts. A blast to my past. xoxo

  12. What an etherial looking hummingbird. They fascinate me. So delicate. I love how the loss felt in the first is explained in the second.
