The Not So Singing Fish

I see the planets pink, gold orbs
Surrounding a bipedal fish
Who swam so far to stand
But still, can't sing.
His red eye tells the story
We can't hear.
Adhoc brushstrokes and
The wild lines are music.
Gills convert color into oxygen
Hitting notes heard only from within.

  1. I love how you interpreted the art piece. "Gills convert color into oxygen Hitting notes heard only from within."

    1. Thanks, Susie! I really like the idea of gills taking something in and bringing something else.

  2. I realize that my study of art history would a been even more delightful had I had poetry to give the work depth.

  3. Awesome description and concept. Without the image, this would totally work, well done. The gill line was my favorite.

  4. What a wonderful piece of art! Adore the work you've selected and the words! He may not sing, but your words give him a fantastic spirit that incorporates all the wonderful colors and energy from the painting. A fantastic pairing...and also swinging by to say thank you...for investing your time in my words!

    1. Are you a fan of Miro too, Natasha? I love the abstract stories his paintings tell.

It was an absolute pleasure to invest in your words :-)

  5. nice work :) and I say this next with all jokes aside...sans your interpretive poem, I'd never been able to "see into" the work of art, but I can see it line by line :)

    1. I'm very honored, Monty. I've always been able to "see into" Miro's work. There was just something about art in the 1920s.

  8. Very nice! I was contemplating a project where I would write poetry for some of my favorite art pieces. I like what you did here.
