Distant Ponderings

Distant Ponderings
.
My once so gaseous Uranus mind
Became a lifeless sort of frozen orb.

Its rings still may spin but it is hollow
Too dim, too slow, not visible from earth.

A cueball like ice giant in the sky
Seen by lonely men through telescopes.

Their lenses show a deepening frost
A warmth that never was, shan’t ever be.

For even if the cold’s beyond their thoughts
Their imaginations can’t come close.

Magnification won’t show the past
The comets hitting at my heart and soul –

Bridges burned down with my various moons:
I miss you Puck, Miranda, Ariel!
Oberon, Titania and Umbriel!
